Sources & Methodology

How the 2026 Civic Guide is built.

A transparent sourcing standard for candidate rosters, public statements, ballot information, candidate submissions and corrections.

Source Priority

Primary records come first

Editorial Method

Neutrality by design.

1 · Establish the official race

Use official candidate filings, ballot-order documents and sample ballots to determine who is running and what office appears on the ballot.

2 · Preserve ballot order

When an official ballot order is available, candidates are displayed in that order rather than an order selected by CrossPoint.

3 · Separate source types

Candidate-submitted material, government records and independent reporting are visibly distinguished.

4 · Source quotations

Public quotations are short, dated and linked to the original public source. Older statements are identified as historical.

5 · No rankings

CrossPoint does not score candidates, rate responses, predict outcomes or recommend a candidate.

6 · Correct transparently

Factual corrections should be supported by a more authoritative or newer source and reflected in the page's update log.
